Have A Bashery

Marcy Fortnow is the Owner, and Chief Party Planner, of Have A Bashery, a unique Children’s Party and Event Company. Have A Bashery has been helping busy parents give their children amazing and memorable celebrations for almost ten years in Chicago, and now she is opening her second location here in Atlanta. She provides a huge line of activity based theme parties, from Super Heroes and Sleep Unders, to Tie Dye and Luaus. All of the games and crafts and goodie bags are brought to your home or rented location and the party is run by our wonderful party staff. These events are perfect for children’s birthdays, child-centered milestone events, and other business, like corporations schools and camps, community centers and organizations, country clubs, fairs and fundraisers.

Q&A with Marcy:

What is unique about your business? Our sincere focus on parents and children. As a post-corporate Mom, I know how hard it is to find the time, energy, and creativity to give your child a great birthday, and I know how important it is that you have that special memory together. We plan the most fun theme parties with parents, and then it is all about the birthday child, they are why we are here.

Favorite thing about Atlanta? Absolutely the weather! We moved from Chicago (super cold!) and I’m originally from Boston (cold and snowy!), so this is much more reasonable. Best of all, a nice long spring and autumn!

Best Part of Your Job? When I go to work, it’s a party!! What could be better than bringing joy?

Business Goal in 2015? My business goals are around getting the word out. In a referral based business it is so important that people get to know who you are and the service you provide. Because we are new to Atlanta and offer a unique service, the goal is about letting parents know we are here, and that we can help them.

Personal Goal in 2015? My personal goals are around continuing to settle in to my new environment and learning all I can about Atlanta. I have been pleasantly surprised!

Best Tip For Handling Life/Work Balance? Keep your work time sacred and your personal time that as well. I used to work at all hours and not make a clear separation, so “down time” was not rejuvenating, and “work time” was not always productive. I keep the mornings very work focused, and I think it’s working…

Favorite Nail Color? Grey. I like it dark grey in the winter and light gray in the summer.

Dog (or cat) Breed and Name? Sadly, no animals any more. Just kids – a junior in high school and a sophomore in college. Oh, and a husband!
